Vara lakshmi Vratam Homa
For the auspicious occasion of Varalakshmi Vratam, a special kalasam
has been prepared. Certain items are arranged to represent Mother Lakshmi, like the coconut, leaves, and the metal kalasam, or pot. Specific mantras are chanted, which energize the water in the kalasam with the divine vibrations
of Sri Lakshmi Devi.
Once Sri Lakshmi is invoked into the kalasam, she is decorated and worshipped. Here, Swamiji performs sankalpa on behalf of all the homa sponsors, reciting their names in Mother Lakshmi's presence.
These specially trained priests, who serve in Amma's Sri Lalita Temple,
work together to
assist Swamiji with the homa.
During the homa, certain auspicious offerings are made for universal peace and prosperity, including white lotuses and sweet pongal.
Another auspicious ingredient is ghee, which is necessary for homas due to its unique subtle energy and chemical composition.
"Varalakshmi" means that Mother is giving us so many boons; she is fulfilling all our noble wishes. When we worship her on Varalakshmi Vratam, Mother showers us with auspicious blessings.
